Iron Front
Alternate history, autumn 1938. Czechoslovakia fights back.
Iron Front is a turn-based hex strategy in the spirit of Panzer General. Lead a small Czechoslovak force through fog, snow and ambushes, and win back the border towns before time runs out.
What makes it different
Fog of war. You only see what your units can see. Forests hide enemies until you are one hex away, and stepping onto an unseen enemy means an ambush with extra damage against you.
Know before you strike. Hover over a target to see the expected damage, the counter-attack, your own losses and any defensive artillery fire.
Combined arms. Artillery can shell attackers who threaten your units (twice per turn), and a unit that destroys its target may attack again without moving.
Veterans. Units earn up to five stars from successful fights, which improve their attack and defence.
Weather and calendar. One turn is one day. Snow and rain ground your air support, and the weather follows the season.
Generals with a voice. Both sides have a general who comments on the battle, in Czech and German.
A clear turn. Every unit shows whether it is ready, has moved, can still fire, is waiting or is done, so no unit is forgotten.
How to play
Click a unit, then a blue hex to move or a red target to attack.
Tab or N: next ready unit. Space: wait. Enter: end turn (press twice if units have not acted). Esc: cancel. Arrow keys: pan the map.
Air strikes cost supplies and need clear weather.
Status
Early prototype. The campaign map, several missions, units for both sides and three languages (English, Czech, German) are in. Expect rough edges and balance changes. Your feedback is very welcome.
